One Stone Armrests Add Long-Haul Comfort and Practical Cup Holders to OVR’s Land Cruiser 100 Series

There are some modifications you install because you need them, and others that simply make every drive a little more enjoyable. The One Stone Armrests we recently added to the OVR Project Land Cruiser 100 Series (LC100) definitely fall into the second category.

When we first came across One Stone Armrests, they were becoming increasingly popular among 70 Series Land Cruiser owners. Anyone who has spent time behind the wheel of a 70 knows why.

The factory doors don’t provide much in the way of elbow support, making long days on corrugated roads or highway miles surprisingly fatiguing.

Since then, the Australian company has expanded its lineup well beyond the 70 Series. Today, One Stone produces vehicle-specific armrests for multiple generations of Land Cruisers, Toyota HiLux models, Land Rover Defenders, Ford Rangers, Ford Everests, and Nissan Patrols.

The goal remains the same across every application: provide a factory-looking armrest that installs without drilling while adding an integrated cup holder.

Today, One Stone has built a strong following among Land Cruiser owners at home and is becoming increasingly popular with overlanders throughout North America.

LC100 Interior Comfort: More Than You’d Expect

Unlike the 70 Series, the 100 Series isn’t exactly lacking in arm support. Toyota gave the doors a reasonably comfortable armrest from the factory, so we weren’t convinced the upgrade would make a dramatic difference.

After living with them for a while, though, we’ve come to appreciate the additional support. The One Stone Armrests for the Land Cruiser 100 Series sit higher than the factory armrest, giving your elbow another natural resting position during long highway drives.

When you’re spending several hours behind the wheel heading toward your next campsite, even small improvements in comfort become noticeable.

It’s worth noting that the added height won’t be ideal for everyone. Drivers of smaller stature, or those who prefer a lower seating position, may find the armrests sit a bit too high for their liking. As with any ergonomic upgrade, your mileage may vary.

For our truck, we chose the Brown version to complement the brown upper section of our Land Cruiser’s door panels. The color looks surprisingly close to the factory trim and blends in well enough that passengers often assume it came that way.

For 100 Series owners, One Stone also offers the armrests in Black, Dark Grey, and Tan, making it easy to match a variety of factory interiors.

OEM-Quality Construction and Finish

One of the things that impressed us immediately was the presentation. The armrests shipped directly from Australia and arrived in California just a few days later, which was remarkably quick considering the distance they traveled.

Inside the presentation box were both pre-assembled armrests, installation wipes, and a pair of One Stone stickers. There was no hardware to sort through or complicated assembly required.

The armrests themselves have a soft, padded surface that looks remarkably OEM. Flip one over and you’ll find considerably more engineering than first meets the eye.

A metal chassis is fixed into the ribbed plastic body, providing rigidity while a formed steel hook that runs the length of the armrest grabs the upper edge of the door near the window opening.

Pre-applied 3M VHB tape on the mounting surfaces completes the installation, resulting in an attachment that feels far more substantial than a simple adhesive-mounted accessory.

Solving the Land Cruiser 100’s Cup Holder Problem

The One Stone Armrests do more than provide another comfortable place to rest your elbow—the integrated cup holder addresses one of the Land Cruiser 100 Series’ most common interior complaints.

Older SUVs like the LC100 have never been known for generous cup holder design. Between water bottles, coffee, soft drinks, and insulated tumblers, it’s easy to run out of places to keep beverages secure during a road trip.

At first glance, mounting a drink high on the door seems like it could end badly every time you close it.

Fortunately, that hasn’t been our experience.

During normal use, opening and closing the door doesn’t send drinks flying or splash coffee everywhere. We certainly wouldn’t recommend slamming the door with a full fast-food drink, since that could splash liquid—or even pop the lid loose—but with everyday use it has proven surprisingly practical.

The holder easily accommodates soda cans, water bottles, most drive-through cups, and many insulated bottles and tumblers without handles. Having two additional cup holders available inside the cabin is something we’ve appreciated far more than we expected.

Final Verdict: A Worthwhile LC100 Comfort Upgrade

Some modifications transform how a vehicle performs. Others simply make spending time in it more enjoyable. The One Stone Armrests for the Land Cruiser 100 Series fall squarely into the latter category.

They won’t increase ground clearance or improve articulation, but they do make every mile a little more comfortable while solving one of the LC100’s most common complaints: a shortage of useful cup holders.

As our Project Land Cruiser 100 Series continues evolving into a vehicle built for extended road trips and weeks spent exploring the backcountry, upgrades like these reinforce an important lesson.

Not every worthwhile modification has to be dramatic. Sometimes improving the experience behind the wheel is just as valuable as improving what’s happening underneath it.
